My Legal Practice
I commenced practising as a Barrister in October 2018, following completion of my pupillage and am developing a practice that takes in, principally, commercial law and “chancery” (that is, the law practised in the chancery division of the High Court). Prior to completing graduate study at the University of Cambridge, I practised as a solicitor in the Sydney office of the Australian law firm, Gilbert + Tobin. As a solicitor, my practice involved both contentious and non-contentious matters centred on, among other things, company law, insolvency law, international law, and human rights law.
Academic Career
I completed my undergraduate degrees in Arts (Politics and History) and Law, both with First Class Honours, at the Australian National University in Canberra, Australia. I was then a graduate research student at the University of Cambridge, Trinity College, under the supervision of Professor Sarah Worthington QC. Whilst at Cambridge, I completed a Master of Laws (LL.M) with First Class Honours and the Postgraduate Diploma of Legal Studies (PGDLS).
My research and writings have principally focused on company law and insolvency law, but I have published and presented papers on a broad range of topics (a full list of my publications is set out in the Publications tab). Somewhat amusingly, and perhaps depressingly, my most-cited work is an article on defamation law that was inspired by a tangential and ephemeral interest in the subject.
